AOL Members: Important Information
Message from Web Baby Shower Owner, Bonnie Walker
November 13, 2009
Please be assured that no matter which company or institution you use to access the Internet, you are welcome to use Web Baby Shower.
However, AOL, in particular, has decided to take such an extreme hardline on spam that their "email feedback" reporting system is actually putting an undue burden on small businesses, such as Snowboard Mommy Productions' Web Baby Shower. AOL only sees fit to report small websites such as webbabyshower.com as abusive, but refuses to actually work with small business owners on a solution that would be mutually beneficial for both our busineses and our mutual customers. Since AOL's only interest, apparently, is to make unfounded and inaccurate abuse reports on Web Baby Shower, and because their current market share does not justify the amount of hassle that their abuse reporting system imposes, I have decided to no longer allow AOL.com email addresses at Web Baby Shower. Currently, Web Baby Shower is not sending any Guest List invitations or Guest Book notifications to AOL.com email addresses and SnowboardMommy.com does not accept any AOL.com addresses. This ban will be expanded during 2010 to completely block the use of AOL.com addresses at Web Baby Shower.
If you are an AOL.COM MEMBER:
Please be assured that you can use Web Baby Shower; however, you will not be able to receive email from Web Baby Shower at your AOL.com email address.
Please consider creating an account with a free, web-based email service such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and many others for your Web Baby Shower. As long as you can open a web browser, you will be able to access your email account with Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail or whichever free email service you choose. You can choose to use the free email account solely for the duration of your Web Baby Shower, or continue to use it even after your Web Baby Shower has ended.
Please note that at this time it is still possible to add your AOL.com email address to the Guest Book notification list and to the Web Baby Shower Guest List (via the games & Birthday Bets), but that email will not actually be sent to your AOL.com address. I know this is a bit confusing, but it was necessary to implement an immediate solution to put a stop to the volume of unnecessary, and unfounded, "abuse" reports on webbabyshower.com from AOL. I will be working on a complete ban of AOL.com email addresses (so that you cannot add them or send email to them) during the coming months and appreciate your patience
If You Are A Web Baby Shower Host with Guests Who Are AOL.COM MEMBERS:
I apologize for the inconvenience, but you will have to copy & paste your Web Baby Shower invitations into an email of your own and send the invitations to your AOL.com guests from your own email account.
At this time, it is still possible to add AOL.com addresses to your Guest List, but emails will not actually be sent to them. Please consider encouraging your guests with AOL.com email addresses to use a free, web-based email service such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and so forth.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or email. I really appreciate everyone's cooperation and understanding in this matter.
