Home Page Manager Help

The Home Page Manager is a tool in the Host Control Panel that allows Web Baby Shower hosts to choose the content for their Web Baby Shower home page. This help page is meant to help Web Baby Shower hosts to use the Home Page Manager in the Host Control Panel.

The Home Page Manager helps you accomplish the following tasks:

Change the introductory paragraph on your Web Baby Shower home page

You can choose what type of content you would like to appear on your Web Baby Shower home page: an introductory paragraph you write yourself, a specific Journal entry, the most recent Journal entry, or the most recent Guest Book entry.

  1. Go to your Web Baby Shower home page
  2. Log into your Host Control Panel
  3. Click "Home Page Manager" (house icon)
  4. Under "What would you like to do?" choose "Change the introductory paragraph on your Web Baby Shower home page"
  5. Click "Go!"
  6. On the next page you will be able to choose one of the following options for your home page:
    • An introductory paragraph you want to write yourself: allows you to write your own introduction for your Web Baby Shower home page. You may enter an unlimited amount of text to introduce the expecting/adopting parents, the host(s), the concept of an online baby shower, or anything else you need to put on your home page. Please note that HTML is not allowed on the home page.
    • A Specific Journal Entry: allows you to choose a specific entry from your Web Baby Shower Journal, which will not change even if you make additional journal entries
    • The Most Recent Journal Entry: allows you to display the most recent entry to your Web Baby Shower Journal and will update automatically each time you make a new Journal entry
    • The Most Recent Guest Book Message: allows you to display the most recent entry to your Web Baby Shower Guest Book and will update automatically as new messages are added to the Guest Book
  7. Click the radio button next to the option you like best and then click "Continue". You may also click "Cancel" to return to the Design Manager main menu
  8. Please read and follow the instructions that the Home Page Manager gives you from this point. Keep in mind that if you are writing a customized introductory paragrah, remember to submit your introduction within 10 minutes so that it does not get lost in any session time out.

Each Web Baby Shower clipart comes with several baby shower related slogans to suit your situation. You can choose to leave the clipart without a slogan or choose a slogan that suits the shower.

  1. Go to your Web Baby Shower home page

  3. Click "Home Page Manager" (house icon)
  4. Under "What would you like to do?" choose "Choose Clipart, Photo or Video for your Web Baby Shower home page"
  5. Click "Go!"
  6. Under "What type of media would you like to display on your home page?" choose "Web Baby Shower Clipart"

  8. The next page will show a preview of your current clipart selection
  9. Scroll below the clipart preview and choose one of the following:
    • Use the "blank" version of this clipart (with no slogan written on it)

      • "It's A Girl"
      • "It's Twins"
      • "It's Triplets"
      • "It's Quadruplets"
      • "It's A Baby Shower"
      • "It's A Surprise"
      • "New Baby"
    • Choose A Completely NEW Clipart: this option will allow you to select a different clipart for your Web Baby Shower home page. Please see below for complete instructions.
  10. Make your selection and click "Continue"
  11. If you chose to use the same clipart with a slogan or no slogan, you are done. If you choose to use a completely new clipart, please see the instructions below for further information.

Choose New Clipart for your Web Baby Shower Home Page

This option will allow you to choose a different piece of clipart with the same or different baby shower-related slogan for your Web Baby Shower home page. You do not have to use the default clipart that comes with your chosen Web Baby Shower theme; you can keep the theme and choose a different clipart.

  1. Go to your Web Baby Shower home page
  2. Log into your Host Control Panel
  3. Click "Home Page Manager" (house icon)
  4. Under "What would you like to do?" choose "Choose Clipart, Photo or Video for your Web Baby Shower home page"
  5. Click "Go!"
  6. Under "What type of media would you like to display on your home page?" choose "Web Baby Shower Clipart"
  7. Click "Continue"
  8. The next page will show a preview of your current clipart selection
  9. Scroll below the clipart preview and choose "Choose A Completely NEW Clipart." This option will allow you to select a different clipart for your Web Baby Shower home page.
  10. Click "Continue"
  11. On the next page, use the search form to narrow your clipart choices. You can search by the clipart title (design theme), color scheme, or by keywords. If you are looking for clipart for twins or multiples that specifically displays more than one baby, use the keywords "twins," "triplets," or "quadruplets" to find clipart that shows two, three or four babies (or baby animals).
  12. Once you have made your search selections, click the "Search" button
  13. If your search parameters match any available clipart, a thumbnail of the matching clipart will appear on the next page.
  14. Simply click on the clipart you wish to use
  15. If you do not like the selections or if there were no matches, you can search again using the search form below the thumbnails
  16. Once you have clicked on a clipart you wish to use, you will be taken to a page with a full-size preview of the clipart and another form. On this form, you can select to use the clipart without a slogan, choose a slogan (see above), or start a new clipart search.
  17. Make your selection and click "Continue"
  18. If you chose to use the same clipart with a slogan or no slogan, you are done. If you choose to use a completely new clipart, please see the instructions below for further information.

      4. Click Submit
    • To upload a new photo for your Web Baby Shower home page:
      1. Make sure you are familiar with the photo upload process at Web Baby Shower (see "Get Ready ..." above)
      2. If you already have 100 photos uploaded to your Web Baby Shower, you will not be given the option to upload another one for the home page; you must select a photo from your current photo album (see above) or remove a photo (see below).
      3. Click the radio button next to "Upload A New Photo for the Home Page"
      4. Click the "Browse" button next to the photo upload form.
      5. An Open File dialog box will open.

      7. The photo's file location and name should now appear in the photo upload box form.
      8. Click the "Continue" Button
      9. A pop-up box with graphical "file loading" counter will appear while your files are being uploaded. Please note that photo uploads can take up to several minutes. The pop-up box will close automatically when your upload is complete.
      10. Once your upload is complete, you will be returned to the main menu in the Home Page Manager.

Choose a Video for your Web Baby Shower home page

If you have added any videos to your Web Baby Shower, you can choose to display one of them on your Web Baby Shower home page.

  1. First, make sure that you have already added video(s) to your Web Baby Shower using the Video Manager
  2. Go to your Web Baby Shower home page
  3. Log into your Host Control Panel
  4. Click "Home Page Manager" (house icon)
  5. Under "What would you like to do?" choose "Choose Clipart, Photo or Video for your Web Baby Shower home page"
  6. Click "Go!"
  7. Under "What type of media would you like to display on your home page?" choose "A Video from your Videos Page"
  8. Click "Continue"
  9. Follow the instructions for choosing / confirming which video you would like to display on your Web Baby Shower home page.

Due to the nature of video hosting and the size of video media, it will take longer for your home page to load with a video on it. If many of your guests are not on broadband Internet service (cable modem, DSL), you may want to display only a photo or clipart on your Web Baby Shower home page.

Add, Change or Remove A Baby Ticker for your Web Baby Shower home page

You can add, update or remove a pregnancy or adoption countdown ticker from many popular ticker websites to your Web Baby Shower home page. While you can access this feature through the Home Page Manager, it is controlled in conjunction with the Ticker Manager. For complete Baby Ticker information, please see the Baby Tickers Help page.
