Get the most out of your Web Baby Shower
Once you have your shower online don't let it just sit there collecting cobwebs! Here are some tips to turn it into a pregnancy and baby memory the family will always cherish:
- Invite as many people as you can think of!
Ask your guests to forward your email invitation to anyone they think would like to know about the shower. You and your guest(s) of honor will be amazed at the "blasts from the past" who will show up to wish the new parents well.
When relatives who don't have a computer visit, let them use yours to sign the Guest Book and participate in your Web Baby Shower. Web Baby Shower was designed to be a safe place where everyone can get involved, with or without a computer of their own!
- Send the invitation email and at least two reminder emails
People get busy ... help them remember by sending out one or two "reminder" emails as the online shower progresses. Web Baby Shower will send you a reminder when the shower is about to expire, so make sure you also send one last call to all your friends and family. As long as you're not emailing them every day, they will appreciate the "second chance" to be involved.
- Photos
Get your camera out and get some photos of the parent(s)-to-be! Keep adding photos and make sure you let all your invitees know when you've added new photos so they know to go look at them. Also, Snapfish is a wonderful service that will develop your film AND scan your photos in for free or something close to it! I highly recommend it.
- Gifts
This is the tricky part if you really have to duplicate a traditional shower 100% with an online shower. My suggestion would be to trust the mom-to-be to not open any packages until the designated date. Most registries are set up to send the gifts to her, so you can try to designate someone else to receive gifts to keep it a surprise, but my motto is "keep it simple."
- Live Chat
Each Web Baby Shower comes with its own private chat room where you and your guests can chat whenever you'd like. - Play games!
Everyone loves to guess at when the baby will arrive, the gender (if not already known), the time, what they should name it and on and on. You can offer prizes or not, but offering guessing games or even traditional "word scrambles" and other shower games will keep everyone involved and coming back to the online shower.
